It is very clear that we as Americans are slowly losing our Constitutional rights to freedom of speech. It is evident in both radio and TV through regulations, through being "politically correct" and through prayer. We as Americans cannot use "God" in public without "offending" someone. Talking about "God" is certainly better than talking about sports. Now, do not get me wrong. Talking about sports especially at work is OK. I think that sports and talking about weather is the only "safe" things left to talk about in the workplace and in public anymore. But, I think sports are over done. My workplace has just about restricted all that can be said at work except sports and weather. So what happens? Employees spend so much time on "fantasy sports". They talk about how their teams are doing and about how their team beat the other one's team. Sports are fine. But in the workplace it is so overdone. It is amazing how much time is spent on this very subject alone. It just seems to me more could and should be done to learn more about one's job or improving the company's productivity. Maybe, I am just too old fashioned. When I am at the workplace I am serious about work. But I have to try and ignore ant try to not listen about the team that played last night and how late it was on TV and how little sleep they got and how tired they are today. Or about how big their big screen TV is. Enough is Enough!
For some reason talking about sports is more important than trying to find ways of making America strong and productive. I think it is way more important to be thinking about how to accomplish this. If you are not making your company stronger then what are you doing? What happened to honest work? You know the work ethic? Americans use to be hard workers. Today, I think they are hard talkers. So much is spent at work on nonwork related issues. What about the management person sitting behind me, searching for the best seats to buy tickets for in the arena for the next event. Or, what about the employee playing games while looking "very" busy. And what about the phone conversations. Endless conversations on the games, the concerts and what they did last night and with whom they did it with. Who cares!
Just think of all the time wasted on nonproductive things. This is the time that is frivoled away and left to just slip away. Many employees should be paying their company back for all their unproductive hours each week. And you know what is amazing? These people get away with this over and over again. This is stealing plain and simple.
If you want America strong, then this has to stop. So, do what is right for America. This is your responsibility as an American and an US citizen to your great country. This is your responsibility to your family.
God Bless America!
